Managing Default Forms in Splio

You can now define a default form for Subscribe, Unsubscribe, and Contact Update directly in the Splio interface.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. How Default Forms Are Assigned
  • Unsubscribe form: automatically created and activated when the universe is set up

  • Subscribe and Update contact forms: the first activated form becomes the default

    .

2. Setting a Form as Default
  • Go to the ... menu next to the form in the list

  • Click Set as default (only available for eligible, activated forms)

  • The form will automatically be used as a fallback if the one specified in the design is disabled

    .

3. Identifying the Default Form
  • In the form list, default forms are marked with a Default tag

  • Only one form per type can be default

  • Default forms cannot be deactivated

    .

4. Copying the Form Link
  • In the same ... menu, use Copy ID to insert its ID into a design

  • This ensures consistency and avoids errors

Insert default form link
  • To insert the default unsubscribe form link in your email: navigate to Special link > Unsubscribe and select Default form link

  • You can follow the same steps to insert a default subscribe form link as well

  • This link will always direct to the default form, regardless of the contact’s language

    .

Use a specific form
  1. Hover over the text in your email

  2. Click the Insert link icon

  3. Paste the variable containing your form’s ID. You can copy it directly from the Preview tab of the form

*Replace 'your_form_id' with the actual ID of your form.
Example: {{unsubscription_form_url | form_id: '0198e6ea-e434-7c80-b5ff-e86984a5fb45}}

Best Practices

  • Always keep one form active per type to avoid fallback issues

  • Regularly review your default forms to ensure they match your branding and legal requirements

  • CRM Updates: use update contact forms to keep data fresh
